First edition, second printing hardcover copy of Little Engines & Big Men by Gilbert A. Lathrop (The Caxton Printers, 1954). Rare and collectible vintage book showcasing a wide range of stories surrounding the creation of the narrow railroads of Colorado and the workers who built and used them. Very rare with jacket, although his copy’s jacket is heavily worn and with missing front flap and many torn and worn areas. Some tape applied to a few tears. Now protected in removable archival sleeve. Boards with some faint blemishes, scuffing to faces and mild shelf wear around the edges. Spine is fairly straight but with a few instances of split binding, and binding is loosening on the whole. Previous owner’s instruction on front endpaper with small torn area where a small sticker was removed, otherwise all pages clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
